BACKGROUND/SUMMARY: The intent of this solicitation is for body repair for all light and medium duty vehicles, as well as buses, for the Transportation Department.

PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION: Staff would like to inform the Board of Education of Frederick County that Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) is riding the above contract from Baltimore City Public Schools.
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY: This contract will be utilized by curriculum to provide assessment services to elementary and middle school students. FCPS currently has an RFP for these services for elementary level mathematics, and this will expand those services into the middle schools. In addition, reading assessment services will be provided to 1st - 8th grade students. The reading assessment service will also be utilized amongst 10th grade students as part of a universal reading screener to determine if a student has foundational reading deficits, that have not been previously identified, so that the student can receive additional assistance.
The contract was awarded to Curriculum Associates, LLC.

PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION: Staff has reviewed the attached contract and recommends rejection of the bid by the Board of Education of Frederick County.

Board of Education Policy 109.3(D)(2) regarding Post-Employment for Members of the Board states that a Board of Education member may not be employed by FCPS for at least one year following the member's departure from the Board by resignation or the end of the member's term of office.
Board of Education Policy 515-Waivers of Board of Education Policy states that the Board may grant waivers from its policies in accordance with procedures established by the Superintendent through regulation. The Board does not have the authority to waive state, federal or local laws.
Board Member Mason has asked the Board to discuss an exception to Policy 109.3(D)(2).
