1 - 1 Digital Learning New Market Middle School
To share information about the successful implementation by the staff of New Market Middle School (NMMS) of the 1:1 Transforming Teaching and Learning pilot making their school the first 1:1 school in FCPS. As a result of this pilot, students and staff report that the learning environment at the school has been transformed due to the infusion of Chromebooks and the availability of quality online resources being used by teachers that enhance the delivery of instruction and increase student engagement.
This year at NMMS, seventh and eighth grade students were assigned their own Chromebook to use in school and they were allowed to take their assigned device home with them. Today’s presentation will highlight the successes of the pilot and lessons learned. In addition, staff will share next steps to increase availability of digital devices and the access to robust digital learning environments that enhance the teaching and learning process.
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
As part of the 2014-2015 Technology Now school system initiative funded by the former Board of County Commissioners, NMMS was selected to pilot a 1:1 digital learning environment that included the opportunity for students to be assigned a digital device to access at both school and home.
PROCESS STATEMENT:
