PURPOSE:
Guidelines for accepting school sites.
County Executive Jan Gardner delivered a final product from the Frederick County School Construction Work Group in February of 2017. One of the recommendations to reduce school construction cost is to establish specific guidelines to evaluate school sites prior to their acquisition or acceptance.
Board members would like to begin a dialogue on this topic.

The Board members began their discussion on efficacy of composting in our schools at their September 27, 2017 Work session.

PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION: To explore potential acquisition and use of Electric School Busses to transport Frederick County Public School system students.
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY: A variety of traditional school bus manufacturers’ have been developing school buses to meet maintenance and long-term use standards.
Board members discussed the possibility of a study to determine efficacy of acquiring and maintaining electric busses, and examine the cost differential at their October 11, 2017 Work session.
Discussion today is to seek information since electric busses are currently being used as part of the County's transit fleet, and share a forward thinking vision for the future and possible implementation as a pilot. And to seek information on any funding opportunities such as grants that might be available.
